Following the awards ceremony, conference attendees participated in educational sessions presented by leaders from throughout the region that ranged from effective leadership, ethical fundraising practices, to communications, marketing, and data analysis. In addition to their educational value, sessions qualified for continuing education credits towards a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) accreditation.

The dynamic luncheon keynote speaker, Dan Pallotta, a national best-selling author, TED Talk presenter, and founder of the Charity Defense Council. Mr. Pallotta challenged the group to consider the high societal and institutional barriers that nonprofit charities confront while trying to achieve their missions. Fundamental constraints, such as lack of risk capital, low salaries, minimal support to fund operating costs, and inability to achieve scale, all serve to hinder progress. Because of these limitations, organizational innovation and flexibility are rarely encouraged, and successful outcomes become scarce.Following Mr. Pallotta’s engaging presentation, attendees were able to make new contacts and test their ideas within multiple round table discussion groups. Led by subject matter experts, interesting topics included capital campaign management, working with an executive coach, and grant writing tips. The day was capped off with a Networking Power Hour, further strengthening networks among vital nonprofit leaders.
